A case of mistaken identity

It’s rather unfortunate when other people get confused over company names, especially when both companies share the same profession.  We recently came across a consumer forum stating that a particular iPhone repair company was quite possibly a “scam service”.  Now imagine our surprise that some people on this forum had mistakenly confused us with this reported iPhone repair company.  An easy mistake, we suppose, especially when the reported “scam service” has a similar web address to that of our old iphone website address of www.iphone-repairs.co.uk.  Add another hyphen between the “i” and the “p” letters in the word “iphone” and amazingly up pops another iPhone repair company.  We suppose it’s an easy mistake to think that we, iPhone Repairs & Spares LTD own the hyphen filled domain name mentioned above.  Well, we do not and never have been associated in any way with the “other” iPhone repair website.

To clarify, we, iPhone Repairs & Spares LTD, had moved from our old website www.iphone-repairs.co.uk to this new website www.iphonerepairsltd.co.uk.  We always have been situated in Kent, United Kingdom.  The other website in question is located in Ipswich, Suffolk, United Kingdom.  Our registered office address is Admirals Offices, The Historic Dockyard, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4TZ.

We can distinguish between different iPhone repair companies by finding out some simple information.  First of all, locate the “about” page on a website.  This should tell you who the company are and where they are located.  Find out the company registration number.  We, iPhone Repairs & Spares LTD are registered with companies house with company number 6988263.  You could also lookup the domain name owner and contact details using online tools such as http://www.whois-search.com/.  Simply enter the website domain name and you should find out who owns it.  Or simply phone the number on a website and ask them if they own or are affiliated with that particular website.

We have emailed the owners of the consumer website and have asked them to rectify the web page where we, iPhone Repairs & Spares LTD have been mistake for the other iPhone repair company.  If you would like to view the web page in question please visit http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/general-consumer-issues/257150-repair-scam.html.

And remember we, iPhone Repairs & Spares LTD, are not any one else.  We had moved our main web site from www.iphone-repairs.co.uk to www.iphonerepairsltd.co.uk.  Simple.  Please do not confuse us with any other website that may contain more than one hyphen!

I have just read that thread and would like to say I was once in the same situation, in the end we had to change our domain name as people were still a bit skeptical even though we stated we were not involved with the domain ;( I hope everything works out for you guys :)
